Want to discover more about your society, get more skills on civic and political leadership, or just improve your general knowledge? Join Politikoffee!

"The counter of a café is the people's parliament", had said once a famous French author called Honoré de Balzac. He could have summarize Politikoffee's project in few words: if, contrary to the parliament, laws are not voted on at café's counters, social issues are also discussed during Politikoffee's events and people debate to defend their ideas.

Since 2015, Politikoffee organizes every Saturday a forum in Phnom Penh where young Cambodians, experts and curious people gather to talk about politics around a cup of coffee, in order to share opinions and put a light on social issues, from freedom of expression to digital economy in Cambodia, through the upcoming elections.

Politikoffee has also a website where some students can express themselves by writing articles, making videos and podcasts, on subjects such as "Why Critical Thinking Is Important for Cambodians in Digital Age", "What is democracy?", or "Toxic Masculinity and Its Impact on Gender Equality".

More than a safe space and a platform for expression, it's the opportunity for the Khmer youth to meet new people and raise awareness, but also to improve critical thinking and knowledge, as well as communication and leadership skills. It's a way for the young Cambodians to take their place in the society, as enlightened citizens, and to participate in democracy in order to build a better future. And who better than the younger generation to shape the world for themselves?

If you want to be part of this adventure, you can just start by joining one of their events. Because of the Covid-19 situation, it's mainly online... but nothing prevents you from sipping a coffee at the same time.

If you want more information, you can follow Politikoffee on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, or just visit directly the website.
